Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Curriculum

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship curriculum provides comprehensive clinical training experiences in acute inpatient psychiatry at Dorothea Dix Adolescent Care, Pediatric consultation-liaison that includes pediatric emergency room and pediatric medical floor consults. Fellows rotate at Communicare, which provides exposure to adolescent substance use IOP, juvenile detention, courts and families, gang prevention programs etc., The program provides unique opportunity to work at Falcon Children's Home, which is a level one group home, Magnolia Hope, which is the only state licensed children's safe house for trafficking youth in North Carolina.

Fellows have electives set to work with specialized outpatient clinics at Womack Army Hospital on Fort Liberty Army Base. They will be working with genetics clinic, developmental pediatric clinic at Womack. We collaborated with NUC pediatric neurology department to have fellows gain experience in pediatric neurology. There are robust opportunities to develop skills in teaching, systems-based improvement, research, collaboration across disciplines, and public and global health initiatives. Fellows trained at Cape Fear Valley Health graduate prepared to work as leaders in a full spectrum of roles in private, academic, research and community settings.
